סופגניה!!!

Shalom shalom!

I feel like it's been a loooooong time since I last posted. I've actually stopped drinking my morning tea (chai) - it's my 5th day being caffeine-free. You would think (just as I had) that Indian tea is not that strong but I guess it is - after all, it simmers on the stove for at least 10 minutes. Anyway, let me tell you, it's not been easy at all. Last week, I found it really hard to stay awake in the afternoon, at work! In the morning, it takes me a while to be able to function. And, to top it all off, I can't sleep more than a few hours at night! Hopefully, I'll be back to normal soon, else I'm gonna start believing that being on caffeine is much healthier - at least it is for my brain! LOL

Enough of my blabbering about caffeine withdrawal. Now, to get back to this post. I was walking around today (hot, yet gorgeous day) and I found a bakery that sells sufganiyot...that's right, SUFGANIYOT!!! For those of you who don't know, sufganiyah (plural sufganiyot) are deep-fried doughnuts with some sort of filling in the center. For those of you who know me, Hannukah is probably my favorite time of year, the time that I try to get to Israel and it's just because it's the only time of year I get to eat sufganiyot! So, you can only imagine how thrilled I was to find this bakery that sells these year-round. I had to confirm thrice to believe that they actually sold it year round...LOL!

Here's a photo I took right before eating it:

My senses were so pleased!

And to go with this, here is one of my creations. I know it's not Hannukah (or Diwali) yet, but hey, I had a sufganiyah...so why not?

I'm entering this into the Anything Goes challenge over at Simon Says Stamp.

Oh I love being here...goodness everywhere!

Neon lanterns

Quick, short post today.

I just realized that I have the option to download and use free digi stamps. So, over at Avery Elle, I used the lantern Celebrate digi stamp to create my card. The image provided over at the Avery Elle Challenge is the following:

Here's my card:
Untitled by GJdesigns

I love the neon colors on the lanterns against the grey background. The only thing I kinda did not like was the way the sentiment looks messy. I tried to get it to come out in white and then had to go over it with my white gel pen. In any case, This is the end result. I wish you could see it in person - the colors provide a great "pop."

I'm also entering into the CAS-ual Fridays challenge

Thanks for stopping by:)

Candles in the sky

Shalom shalom!

Here's another card that I finished making:

Don't you just love the colors?

I got the idea for this card by combining the sketch from CAS(E) this sketch

and the colors from the CAS Colours and Sketches

Home sweet home :D

Okay...I've been working on this card for the past couple of days and finally, it's done. Wooooo hoooooo!!!

This card was inspired by the bird's eye view I got when landing in Tel-Aviv.

Here's a side-by-side view I created:

Can you tell how obsessed I am? I can't get over either of them;p

I still can't get over the photo and card!

For a special day

I'm baaaaaaaaaaack:)

It's been a dreary day here - windy, rainy, gloomy skies, lightening and thunder. Those of you who know me, know that I tend to curl up on the couch and watch TV, lots and lots of TV.
I did stay home but I was quite productive. I made some strawberry jam, cooked Pilpel Memule (bell peppers stuffed with rice - a Middle Eastern dish) and made a couple of cards. I'm proud of me!

Here's the card I'm entering for the challenge over at The Play Date Cafe

I'm also entering it over at CAS-ual Fridays.
Happy birthday in advance Michele. Next week is going to be fab:)

I needed a lighter grey - this one's a bit dark and shows up even darker in the photo than it really is. Nonetheless, I love the way it turned out! And I love the colors.

Now, to share some more of what I did today.

Here are some photos of the strawberry jam. It's not at all hard to make. And oh, I couldn't find a jar so I put it into a glass container. Tastes yum!!!

And here are the stuffed bell peppers:
Yummy:)

Craft Dash #16 - 8 min 22 seconds

There is a new challenge over at Pretty Pink Posh and I couldn't think of what to make. When I to check out fellow card makers' blogs, they make it look so easy. For those that come up with those gorgeous, inspirational ideas - you guys are amazing! It took me a while (and a whole lot of thinking, sketching and using up lots of scrap paper) until I decided to make a baby card. I remember, a while back, I saw a card that was a baby dresser. So I tried to make something along those lines using the colors for the Craft Dash challenge. Here's the result:

The purple knobs didn't quite show up well in this photo. They look much cuter and shinier in reality.

And I almost forgot. Here's my time:

I'm also adding this into the Daring Cardmakers challenge - Child's Play.

That's it for today. Thanks for stopping by:)

Inspired by..."Frosty the Snowman"

Yesterday evening, I was feeling tired and cold and my solution was to get tucked into a blanket on the sofa and watch TV - my solution to everything:) Oh how I love TV - best invention ever!!! Anyway, I watched Frosty the Snowman and couldn't help but think of making a winter card. Usually, my inspiration for making cards has been from other card makers. However, lately, I'm trying to draw inspiration from other places/things. Here's a photo of the movie poster for those who haven't watched the movie:

And here's the card that came to be:

Lawn fawn 'frosty friends' stamp set, Penny Black 'Giving and Receiving' stamp set, PanArt Aqua watercolor pencils, diamon stickles, glossy accents

I thought of putting a pipe in his mouth and stamped it out on scratch paper:

Oh it does look a bit funny, so I didn't quite bother to add it in.

I think the card turned out to be adorable and I'm glad I stayed up late to complete this card. I'm entering this card into three challenges.
  •  Over at Less is Morethe challenge is to create a card inspired by a film. Not sure if it quite fits the criteria, since "Frosty the Snowman" was a short movie and my card is not as simple as I thought it would be, but nevertheless, I hope it qualifies.
  • The second challenge is over Lawnscaping and the challenge theme is "inspired by." For me, older animated movies, shows, etc are always an inspiration.
  • I'm also entering this into the CAS-ual Fridays challenge - all that glitters. In this case, it's the snow back that's filled with sparkles:)

My first time entering challenges via my blog - SOOOOOO EXCITING!!!

First time blogger

So here goes...my first blog post ever. I admit, I'm super late! So why start now? It's been almost a year since I got interested in paper crafting - card making to be more specific. I started following fellow crafters' blogs, recently learned about challenges, and was inspired to start my own. Not to mention, my younger brother (who is truly older) has been nudging me to start my own blog and I am finally convinced.

I used to be afraid, and still am, that I wouldn't know how to blog, what to write about, didn't know if anyone would want to read what I wrote about. However, I've recently been following Paulina's blog (http://prettypinkposh.com) and she's written a series of posts called "Blogging 101." She draws upon her own experiences as a blogger and her posts, I thought, were so well written.Well, I guess she's another reason I start blogging now.

I also learned how to add a signature using the following tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Jyigw27mZk and http://thecutestblogontheblock.com/tutorials/how-to-add-a-signature-to-your-blog-posts-updated. Phew!!! It felt like a task but it's finally done!

I don't have anything crafty to post right now since I just flew into Israel yesterday and am still jet-lagged and exhausted. However, I'll leave you with the amazing view I encountered while landing yesterday.

Hopefully I'll have something crafty to share with you tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by.
